INAUGURAL CEREMONY OF THE BUNDUNG NEW LAW COURTS COMPLEX

The Bundung New Law Courts Complex has been inaugurated as part of activities marking the celebration of Legal Year 2023. The inauguration ceremony held on the 9th February, 2023 was presided over by His Lordship, the Honourable Chief Justice Hassan B Jallow, Cabinet Ministers and other dignitaries as well as residents of the community of Bundung.

The multi-million dalasi complex, fully funded by the Gambia Government, houses six court rooms, six chambers, a conference room, a reception and a multitude of offices including a Lawyers’ room.

In his welcoming remarks, the Hon Chief Justice Hassan B. Jallow applauded the Government of the Gambia for supporting the Judiciary’s upgrading and expansion project of the Courts. He restated the need to secure more space for the expansion project to ensure greater access to justice.

“Through the completion of this project, we aim to realise one of the objectives of the 2021-2025 Strategic Plan of the Judiciary. There is the need to improve access to the courts and to improve decentralisation”, says Babucarr Boye, Minister of Public Service, Coordination and Delivery who deputized for the President H.E Adama Barrow

Minister Boye further assured of Government’s commitment to support more infrastructural development for the Judiciary in enhancing quality justice delivery across the country.

The Contractor Maasita Keita of Maasita Construction Enterprise, expressed gratitude to the Judiciary of The Gambia for awarding him the contract. He further implored on officials to prioritize and patronise Gambian entrepreneurs.
